Clinical Presentation & Protocol
Patient Usually Complains Of
Patient presents for evaluation of bilateral/unilateral calf hypoplasia. Reports dissatisfaction with lower extremity contour, noting lack of gastrocnemius muscle volume and definition. Denies history of trauma, neuromuscular disease, or prior surgical intervention. Goal is aesthetic augmentation to improve lower limb symmetry and projection.
Clinical Examination Findings
Physical exam reveals diminished calf circumference compared to normative values. Inspection shows reduced gastrocnemius muscle bulk, flattened medial/lateral contour, and lack of posterior projection. Palpation confirms soft tissue deficiency without underlying muscle atrophy or neurological deficit. Skin quality is adequate for potential implant placement or fat grafting.
Treatment Protocol
Treatment plan discussed: Options include calf augmentation via silicone implant placement (subfascial/submuscular) or autologous fat grafting (lipofilling). Risks, benefits, and alternatives explained, including potential for capsular contracture, asymmetry, nerve injury, and infection. Patient consents to proceed with [Insert Procedure].
