Clinical Presentation & Protocol
Patient Usually Complains Of
High-energy trauma (MVA, fall from height). Presents with complex, highly unstable fracture pattern or joint dislocation.
Clinical Examination Findings
Patient appears in significant distress. Affected extremity shows [location] with tense, wood-like induration on palpation. Pain is disproportionate to injury and exacerbated by passive stretch of [muscle group]. Distal neurovascular exam: [pulses/capillary refill/sensation].
Treatment Protocol
1. ATLS protocol if poly-trauma. 2. Immediate reduction and rigid splinting/traction. 3. Urgent CT Scan for pre-operative planning. 4. NPO for OR.
