Clinical Presentation & Protocol
Patient Usually Complains Of
Patient presents with an insidious onset of right-sided hip pain and a persistent antalgic gait. Symptoms exacerbated by physical activity and relieved by rest. No history of acute trauma. Reports intermittent knee pain referred from the hip. No systemic symptoms such as fever or weight loss.
Clinical Examination Findings
Right hip examination reveals restricted internal rotation and abduction. Positive Trendelenburg sign noted. Tenderness to palpation over the anterior hip joint. No erythema or warmth. Neurovascular status of the right lower extremity is intact. Gait analysis demonstrates a right-sided antalgic limp.
Treatment Protocol
Management plan includes activity modification, avoidance of high-impact sports, and physical therapy to maintain range of motion. Use of crutches or orthotic bracing as indicated by radiographic progression. Regular clinical and radiological follow-up (AP and frog-leg lateral radiographs) to monitor femoral head reossification.
