Comprehensive clinical criteria for Mild Aortic Stenosis

Clinical Presentation & Protocol

Patient Usually Complains Of

Patient presents for follow-up of known mild aortic stenosis. Currently asymptomatic, denying exertional dyspnea, chest pain, syncope, or near-syncope. Functional capacity remains preserved. No recent hospitalizations or cardiac interventions.

Clinical Examination Findings

Cardiovascular exam reveals a regular rate and rhythm. Grade 2/6 systolic ejection murmur heard best at the right upper sternal border, radiating to the carotids. S1 and S2 are audible; no S3 or S4 gallop. Peripheral pulses are 2+ and symmetric without delay. No signs of congestive heart failure.

Treatment Protocol

Management plan: Continue clinical surveillance with serial echocardiography every 3-5 years as per ACC/AHA guidelines. Focus on aggressive cardiovascular risk factor modification, including blood pressure control and lipid management. Advise patient to report any new onset of symptoms immediately.
