Patient Usually Complains Of
Patient presents following blunt facial trauma to the nasal bridge. Reports localized pain, epistaxis, and subjective nasal obstruction. Denies loss of consciousness, clear rhinorrhea (CSF leak), or visual disturbances.
Clinical Examination Findings
Inspection reveals nasal bridge edema, ecchymosis, and palpable step-off deformity. Septal examination shows no evidence of septal hematoma. Nasal airway patency is reduced bilaterally. No crepitus noted. Cranial nerves II-XII intact.
Treatment Protocol
Immediate management includes ice application, head elevation, and analgesia. If displaced, consider closed reduction under local anesthesia or sedation within 7-10 days. ENT/OMFS referral for definitive management and assessment of septal integrity.
