Patient Usually Complains Of
Patient presents with exertional lower extremity pain, cramping, or fatigue occurring at a consistent distance and relieved by rest (claudication). Symptoms are localized to the [calf/thigh/buttock]. Denies rest pain, non-healing ulcers, or nocturnal paresthesias. Risk factors include [smoking/HTN/DM/dyslipidemia].
Clinical Examination Findings
Vascular exam: Femoral, popliteal, dorsalis pedis, and posterior tibial pulses are [2+/1+/absent] bilaterally. Capillary refill time is [normal/delayed]. Skin shows [atrophy/hair loss/dependent rubor/pallor on elevation]. ABI (Ankle-Brachial Index) measured at [value]. No evidence of critical limb ischemia or gangrenous changes.
Treatment Protocol
1. Smoking cessation counseling. 2. Supervised exercise therapy (walking program: 30-45 mins, 3x/week). 3. Antiplatelet therapy: [Aspirin/Clopidogrel]. 4. Statin therapy for lipid management. 5. Blood pressure control (target <130/80 mmHg). 6. Glycemic control if diabetic. 7. Consider Cilostazol for symptom relief.
