Rheumatoid Arthritis, Seropositive, Right Knee

ICD-10 Code
M05.661

Chronic autoimmune inflammatory arthritis affecting the right knee, with positive Rheumatoid Factor (RF).

Clinical Presentation & Protocol

Patient Usually Complains Of

Patient presents with persistent right knee pain, morning stiffness lasting >60 minutes, and localized swelling. Symptoms are consistent with seropositive rheumatoid arthritis, characterized by inflammatory joint pain, synovial hypertrophy, and functional limitation. No history of trauma; symptoms exacerbated by activity and relieved by rest.

Clinical Examination Findings

Right knee examination reveals palpable synovial thickening, suprapatellar effusion, and tenderness along the joint line. Range of motion is restricted by pain and swelling. No erythema or warmth noted. Gait analysis shows antalgic pattern secondary to joint inflammation.

Treatment Protocol

Initiate DMARD therapy (e.g., Methotrexate) with folic acid supplementation. Consider intra-articular corticosteroid injection for acute flare management. Prescribe NSAIDs for PRN pain control. Monitor inflammatory markers (ESR/CRP) and liver function tests. Physical therapy referral for joint stabilization and range-of-motion exercises.
