Clinical Presentation & Protocol
Patient Usually Complains Of
Patient presents with right knee pain, swelling, and stiffness. Symptoms are exacerbated by activity and weight-bearing. Reports morning stiffness lasting [X] minutes and a sensation of fullness within the joint. No history of recent trauma, fever, or systemic symptoms.
Clinical Examination Findings
Right knee examination reveals palpable synovial thickening, suprapatellar effusion, and warmth. Range of motion is limited by pain at [X] degrees of flexion. Tenderness noted along the joint line. No ligamentous laxity or meniscal signs. Neurovascular status intact distally.
Treatment Protocol
Initiate NSAIDs for inflammation control. Recommend RICE protocol (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation). Consider intra-articular corticosteroid injection if refractory to conservative management. Physical therapy referral for range of motion and strengthening exercises.
