ICD-10 Code
S83.212A

Clinical diagnosis and template for Medial Meniscus Tear, Acute, Left Knee.

Clinical Presentation & Protocol

Patient Usually Complains Of

Patient presents with acute onset of left knee pain following a twisting injury. Reports localized medial joint line tenderness, mechanical symptoms including locking and catching, and associated joint effusion. Pain is exacerbated by weight-bearing and rotational movements.

Clinical Examination Findings

Left knee examination reveals localized tenderness along the medial joint line. Positive McMurray test for medial meniscus. Positive Apley compression test. Range of motion is limited by pain, particularly in terminal flexion. Mild to moderate joint effusion present. Neurovascular status intact distally.

Treatment Protocol

Initiate RICE protocol (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation). Prescribe NSAIDs for pain and inflammation management. Activity modification to avoid pivoting and deep squatting. Referral to physical therapy for range of motion and quadriceps strengthening. Consider MRI of the left knee to confirm diagnosis and assess tear morphology.
