Clinical Presentation & Protocol
Patient Usually Complains Of
Patient presents with acute onset of right knee pain following a twisting injury. Reports localized medial joint line tenderness, mechanical symptoms including locking and catching, and associated joint effusion. Pain is exacerbated by weight-bearing and rotational movements.
Clinical Examination Findings
Right knee examination reveals localized tenderness along the medial joint line. Positive McMurray test for medial meniscus. Range of motion is limited by pain and mechanical block. Mild to moderate joint effusion present. Ligamentous stability (ACL/PCL/MCL/LCL) is intact. Neurovascular status is grossly intact distally.
Treatment Protocol
Initiate RICE protocol (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation). Prescribe NSAIDs for pain and inflammation management. Activity modification to avoid pivoting and deep squatting. Refer for MRI of the right knee to confirm diagnosis and evaluate tear morphology. Physical therapy referral for range of motion and strengthening.
