Patient Usually Complains Of
Patient presents with chronic, non-bloody, watery diarrhea. Symptoms include nocturnal diarrhea, fecal urgency, and occasional abdominal cramping. No history of fever, weight loss, or hematochezia. Symptoms persist despite dietary modifications.
Clinical Examination Findings
Abdominal examination reveals soft, non-distended abdomen, non-tender to palpation, no guarding or rebound tenderness. Bowel sounds are hyperactive. No palpable masses or organomegaly. Rectal exam shows no fissures, hemorrhoids, or masses.
Treatment Protocol
Initiate Budesonide 9mg daily for 6-8 weeks with gradual taper. Advise cessation of NSAIDs and smoking. Consider anti-diarrheal agents (Loperamide) for symptomatic control. Monitor for clinical response and potential relapse.
