Standardized diagnosis for Osteomyelitis, Acute, Left Femur.

Clinical Presentation & Protocol

Patient Usually Complains Of

Patient presents with acute onset of localized pain, erythema, and warmth over the left distal femur. Symptoms associated with systemic malaise, low-grade fevers, and limited range of motion of the left knee. No history of recent penetrating trauma or surgical intervention in the affected area. Pain is described as deep, throbbing, and progressively worsening over the past [Number] days.

Clinical Examination Findings

Physical examination of the left lower extremity reveals localized tenderness to palpation over the left femoral shaft. Significant soft tissue swelling, erythema, and increased local temperature noted. Left knee range of motion is restricted due to pain. Neurovascular status is intact distally with palpable dorsalis pedis and posterior tibial pulses. No evidence of fluctuance or open sinus tracts.

Treatment Protocol

Initiate empiric intravenous antibiotic therapy pending culture results. Obtain blood cultures and consider image-guided aspiration of the affected femoral site for microbiological analysis. Consult Orthopedic Surgery for potential surgical debridement. Maintain limb elevation and strict non-weight-bearing status on the left lower extremity. Monitor inflammatory markers (CRP, ESR) and CBC daily.
