Clinical Presentation & Protocol

Patient Usually Complains Of

Patient presents with acute onset of unilateral/bilateral parotid swelling, localized pain, and tenderness. Reports exacerbation of symptoms during mastication or exposure to gustatory stimuli. Denies systemic symptoms (fever, chills) or recent trauma. Duration: [Insert duration].

Clinical Examination Findings

Extraoral exam reveals firm, erythematous, and tender swelling over the parotid region. Intraoral exam shows erythema and edema of the Stensenโ€™s duct orifice. Purulent or turbid saliva expression noted upon bimanual palpation of the gland. No evidence of fluctuance or abscess formation.

Treatment Protocol

Prescribed course of [Antibiotic, e.g., Amoxicillin-Clavulanate] for [Duration]. Recommended sialagogues (lemon drops) to stimulate salivary flow, adequate hydration, and warm compresses to the affected area. Advised NSAIDs for pain management. Follow-up scheduled in [Number] days.
