Clinical Presentation & Protocol
Patient Usually Complains Of
Patient presents with localized anterior right knee pain, exacerbated by jumping, running, or prolonged sitting. Onset is insidious, consistent with overuse. No history of acute trauma, locking, or instability. Pain is localized to the inferior pole of the patella.
Clinical Examination Findings
Right knee exam: Tenderness to palpation at the inferior pole of the patella and the proximal patellar tendon. No joint line tenderness, effusion, or ligamentous laxity. Full range of motion. Pain reproduced with resisted knee extension. Negative McMurray and Lachman tests.
Treatment Protocol
Initiate RICE protocol (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation). Activity modification to avoid aggravating movements. Physical therapy referral for eccentric strengthening exercises and quadriceps stretching. Consider NSAIDs for pain management. Patellar tendon strap recommended for symptom relief.
