Patient Usually Complains Of
Patient presents with clinical features of nephrotic syndrome, including progressive peripheral edema, weight gain, and foamy urine. History significant for SLE. Current evaluation focuses on quantifying proteinuria, assessing serum albumin, and monitoring for thromboembolic complications.
Clinical Examination Findings
General physical exam reveals significant bilateral pitting edema (lower extremities), possible anasarca, and elevated blood pressure. Skin assessment for malar rash, discoid lesions, or alopecia. Mucous membranes checked for oral ulcers.
Treatment Protocol
Management includes RAAS blockade (ACEi/ARB) for antiproteinuric effect, immunosuppressive therapy (e.g., MMF or Cyclophosphamide), and consideration of corticosteroids. Statin therapy for hyperlipidemia and diuretics for volume overload management.
