Patient Usually Complains Of
Patient presents with localized pain, erythema, and edema of the left lower extremity. History of [non-healing ulcer/recent trauma/surgical procedure] noted. Reports associated systemic symptoms including [fever/chills/malaise]. Pain is described as [throbbing/constant], exacerbated by weight-bearing. No history of recent antibiotic use or known drug allergies.
Clinical Examination Findings
Left lower extremity examination reveals [erythema/warmth/induration] over the [specific site, e.g., tibia/ankle]. Presence of a [sinus tract/purulent discharge/exposed bone] noted. Tenderness to palpation is significant. Range of motion is [limited/painful]. Neurovascular status: distal pulses [palpable/diminished], capillary refill < 2 seconds, sensation intact to light touch.
Treatment Protocol
Initiate empiric intravenous antibiotic therapy pending culture and sensitivity results. Surgical consultation for [debridement/sequestrectomy/bone biopsy]. Wound care protocol: daily dressing changes with [saline/antiseptic] irrigation. Strict non-weight bearing status on the left lower extremity. Pain management via [analgesics/anti-inflammatories].
