Patient Usually Complains Of
Patient presents with localized pain, erythema, and edema of the right lower extremity. Reports of persistent, non-healing ulceration or recent surgical intervention/trauma to the area. Associated symptoms include localized warmth, purulent drainage, and systemic signs of infection such as fever or chills. Duration of symptoms: [Insert duration].
Clinical Examination Findings
Right lower extremity examination reveals significant erythema, induration, and localized tenderness over the affected site. Presence of sinus tract formation with purulent discharge noted. Neurovascular status: distal pulses palpable/diminished, capillary refill < 2 seconds. Range of motion limited by pain. No signs of compartment syndrome.
Treatment Protocol
Initiate empiric intravenous antibiotic therapy pending culture and sensitivity results. Surgical consultation for debridement and bone biopsy. Wound care management with sterile dressings. Strict offloading of the affected extremity. Pain management as indicated. Monitor inflammatory markers (ESR, CRP) and WBC count.
