Clinical Presentation & Protocol

Patient Usually Complains Of

Patient presents with localized swelling and pain over the anterior aspect of the left knee. Onset is [acute/gradual], exacerbated by kneeling or direct pressure. Patient denies fever, chills, or systemic symptoms. No history of penetrating trauma or recent surgical intervention in the affected area.

Clinical Examination Findings

Examination of the left knee reveals a visible, fluctuant, and tender swelling localized to the prepatellar bursa. Skin overlying the bursa is [erythematous/warm/intact]. Range of motion is limited by pain at terminal flexion. No signs of intra-articular effusion, ligamentous instability, or neurovascular compromise.

Treatment Protocol

Management includes activity modification (avoiding kneeling), application of ice packs for 15-20 minutes every 4-6 hours, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). If persistent, consider aspiration of the bursa under sterile conditions for fluid analysis and potential corticosteroid injection. Compression dressing recommended.
