Clinical Presentation & Protocol
Patient Usually Complains Of
Patient presents with localized swelling and pain over the anterior aspect of the right knee. Symptoms exacerbated by kneeling or direct pressure. No history of penetrating trauma or systemic signs of infection. Reports gradual onset of discomfort and restricted range of motion due to localized tension.
Clinical Examination Findings
Right knee examination reveals a fluctuant, tender, and erythematous swelling located anterior to the patella. Skin integrity is intact with no signs of cellulitis or sinus tract formation. Range of motion is limited by pain at terminal flexion. Neurovascular status is intact distally.
Treatment Protocol
Conservative management initiated: RICE protocol (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation), avoidance of kneeling, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). If persistent, consider aspiration of the bursa under sterile conditions for fluid analysis and corticosteroid injection.
