Clinical Presentation & Protocol
Patient Usually Complains Of
Presents to clinic/ED following high-energy trauma or Fall On Outstretched Hand (FOOSH). Complains of immediate, severe pain, rapid swelling, visible deformity, and complete inability to use the limb.
Clinical Examination Findings
In acute distress. Hemodynamically stable.
Treatment Protocol
1. Immediate rigid immobilization (Splint/Cast). 2. Elevation & Ice. 3. Analgesia. 4. Orthogonal Radiographs. 5. Surgical planning (ORIF/Nailing) vs definitive casting.
