Percutaneous Parathyroid Ethanol Injection (PEIT)

EN: Ultrasound-guided percutaneous injection of sterile 95% ethanol directly into nodular hyperplastic parathyroid glands. Indicated for medically refractory secondary or tertiary hyperparathyroidism in patients who are poor candidates for surgical parathyroidectomy. Causes coagulative necrosis and subsequent reduction of PTH secretion.
